East-East
Program Coordinator: Gulnura Mehdi
The East East Program is a cross-border partnership program which promotes cooperation in identifying regional and global experiences, expertise and best practices in social innovation. The program provides opportunities to share experiences in resolving urgent social questions of development, promoting social innovation and activism, and influencing local and regional development.
The advantage of East East events is that they unite not only representatives of a number of countries but also representatives of different organizations in each country. As a result, the events can influence public opinion, and in case of training's, can improve participants' professional level. The East East Program is a network initiative through which the foundations within the Soros foundations network cooperate in bringing people, ideas and experiences together. It also encourages people to share information and exchange experiences in addressing common issues of post-communist development. The program helps to develop common resolutions to complex problems through seminars, symposia, roundtables, working groups, workshops, and study visits. Since OSI introduced the East East Program in early 1997, it has become one of the foundation's most active programs in Azerbaijan.
The many opportunities within the East East network are widely advertised in local newspapers, and all grants are awarded on the basis of open competitions.
