Azerbaijan National Committee for European Integration

On 10th February 2006, an initiative group of 39 well-known individuals of Azerbaijan, including scholars, business representatives, journalists have established itself as the Azerbaijan National Committee for European Integration (ANCEI).

The interest of this civil society group is to support further enhancement of Azerbaijan-European Union relations within the scope of the European Neighbourhood Policy, develop recommendation for consideration of the government of Azerbaijan and participate in the monitoring of this co-operation.

Another priority of ANCEI is to promote European values in our State, which will be forming the dynamics of building a common future with the European Union.

Main goals of ANCEI:

- Achieving integration of Azerbaijan to Europe;
- Participating of civil society in the integration process, ensuring civil society involvement in decision-making, implementation and monitoring of European integration;
- Establishing and implementing of cooperation between top officials of the country and European Union and civil society;
- Enlightening community of the process of integration to Europe.

Directions we follow:

- To organize and coordinate joint activities of civil society institutions for integration to Europe; - To ensure cooperation between government bodies, structures of European Union and civil society within the framework of European Neighbourhood Policy; - To ensure civil society involvement in implementation and monitoring of the Action Plan and other related documents, developed within the framework of European Neighbourhood Policy, to organize public evaluation of the Action Plan and control implementation of the Action Plan; - To prepare and submit to the relevant government bodies and European Union proposals for successful implementation of the Action Plan within European Neighbourhood Policy; - To inform the public on the process of integration to Europe, European Neighbourhood Policy and values of European Community; - To ensure analyzing and public discussion of the prospects and problems of Azerbaijan's joining European Union.

Our functioning principles:

- Openness for cooperation. ANCEI is ready to cooperate with any government, non-government bodies, mass media, international NGOs, public figures, scientists, experts etc.;
- Transparency. ANCEI is functioning in transparent and open manner;
- Functioning beyond political goals. ANCEI is not involved in any activities for political goals;
- Legality. ANCEI is functioning within the legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic;
- Tolerance. ANCEI demonstrates tolerance to different opinions on its functioning.
