Health Education
Mission statement
The Health Education Program was developed to provide an innovative approach to teaching health education to secondary school students with the aim of positively affecting their health behaviors.
Program components
The Program is a teacher training program with the following parts:
- It introduces interactive teaching methodologies, through a five-part health curriculum and a five-day training focusing on Alcohol and Other Drugs, Human Sexuality, AIDS, Smoking and Nutrition.
- A sixth curriculum and training on regional environmental issues is also available through the program.
- Supplemental training workshops include intensive training on active training methods, in-depth training in human sexuality, and Peer Counseling training.
Achievements 1999-2001
- The training of 30 school psychologists and science teachers to be trainers.
- The translation and printing of five Health Education manuals for trainers.
- The training of 25 teachers in the regional city of Nakhichevan.
- A health education module was incorporated into curriculum of the Baku In-Service Teachers Training Institute.
