Structure
The Foundation functions by supporting the work of the staff and the decision-making bodies.
The decision-making bodies of the Foundation consist of the OSI-AF Board and the Expert Committees that process program strategies and projects.
This structures are renewed every two, three and/or four years going through a regular annual rotation.
Staff members are operating in four departments. Two of which are carrying on administrative and the other two program activities.
The Executive Director is the head of the Foundation who is accountable for the overall activity of the foundation according the strategy determined by the OSI-AF Board.
The Board is the highest decision-making body of the Foundation which consists of 7 members nominated by the founder. The Board processes the strategy of the Foundation, approves the annual budget, its changes throughout the year. The Board reviews and approves all the projects and grants over $10 thousand as well as the grants that cause conflicts of interests. With the founder’s approval it elects the executive director. Besides, it approves the composition of the Expert Committees.
The Expert Committees are decision-making and advisory bodies that are a function of grant-giving programs. They participate in the processing of the strategy of a respective program, in the discussion and approval of grants of value less than $10 000.
The staff accomplishes the everyday workload of the Foundation. The program staff (coordinators/directors) does all the preparative work for conceptualizing the different programs, projects, and grants and at the same time playing the mediator between the decision-making bodies and the applicants.
The administrative staff supports the program staff in budget planning, evaluating completed projects/ grants and in settling daily logistic issues.
